TOKYO, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Dressed in brightly coloured batik shirts, many
with headscarves, 200 Indonesian nurses and care workers have arrived in
Japan, the first of up to a thousand to be employed by short-staffed
hospitals and homes for the elderly.

Those backing the recruitment of foreign health workers say this will help
bear the burden of care in the world's fastest ageing nation, but the
linguistic and cultural hurdles the nurses face are daunting in a country
where immigration is a sensitive issue.
