I forget the details now, and which is which, but there is a difference
in sentencing for crack and for cocaine, and also a difference between
state & federal penalties, and the combination amounts to a racist law,
and is so used to give black drug dealers extra long sentences.

This is sloppy; it's been several years since I read up on it.

But in any case, structural racism is still a major feature of u.s.
society.
