UK policies are much closer to USA than continental Europe,
and the article seem to equate UK with Europe. You might want

And as for Germany it had decided to play it alone
and there was outcry about it, but it seems it
will play with others on the fiscal side now.

Not to say the crisis won't be hard in continental
Europe but the safety net is there.

PS: Ireland and Spain also had "finance and housing"
USa like bubbles and will be hit pretty hard.
