while driving into work, I heard a little bit of the BBC report on US NPR. The bottom line: the freedom of gays, lesbians, and transsexuals in Iraq has deteriorated drastically since Saddam Hussein was overthrown, as has the treatment of those with AIDS. Though Saddam was brutal in the treatment of his enemies (and suspected enemies), his regime was secular. Now Iraq's got more of a fundamentalist regime.
