the Java program on my PC asked to be updated, so since I haven't enough caffeine and don't have enough energy to answer such cosmic questions as "why?", I said "okay." Interestingly, it asked if I wanted a Microsoft "Bing" toolbar in my browser. Wait! wasn't it just a short time ago that Microsoft was trying to suppress Java -- and had to go to (and lose in) court? Well, Java redeemed itself a little by offering me "Open Office," its free competitor with MS Office.
