· Participants will gain insights into the professional functioning of
a CEO in his 40s who entered into work-focused psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
This includes an examination into his unconscious internal conflicts that
hampered his ability to lead effectively and the ways in which these conflicts
became operationalized within the organization, and shaped its culture and
“personality.” The Presenter will also discuss longitudinal follow-up with
this executive and the organization.
· Participants will learn how an organization's key leader’s age,
gender and narcissistic orientation impact one’s leadership style and
functioning. For example, how an executive’s grandiosity may be disguised as
decisive, cutting-edge business action while insulating the leader from the
dangers of inadvisable strategic decisions and/or a rush to premature action.
· Participants will learn how psychoanalytic theory guides
organizational consultations of this sort. They will learn about the special
considerations of working with a key executive, transference and
countertransference considerations for the consultant and how this guides
technique.
