The Jevons paradox shows why markets are inappropriate for managing
resources.  Technological improvements can speed up the depletion of
stocks.  He was not arguing for natural capitalism.  For that, he was
treated as if he made a terrible blunder.

He was attacked two more times. Once for aguing that climate change
can affect the economy and once for looking at fatigue as a first step
in understanding the labor process.
