That's not a very good poem, but the response to it - in Israel, within Germany, and in the pages of the NYT - has been ludicrous and insane. And it proves his point: "The verdict of 'anti-Semitism' is familiar."
When I was first on PEN-L - gosh, it's like 15 years ago, maybe more? - Michael Perelman forbade discussion of Israel, as I recall. Too controversial. That seems to have changed.
