A footnote. The title of the NYT article embodies the core defense of any oppressive social system: The _people_ in power, not the "system," is the cause of ills. Get non-psychopathic capitalists and all will be well. Didn't some indignant Goldman Sachs executive resign with a letter that implied as much: Banks use to be good; now they are evil; we need only go back to good bankers. (Unfortunately, there the tone of Chomsky's article also allows this implication to be read into itl)
