Isn't this a victory in some ways, i.e., the fact that right-winger like Gladwell is writing seemingly harmless fluff like THE TIPPING POINT instead of acting like James O’Keefe or Dinesh D’Souza? or are his books harmful, tilting people to the right in a significant way? To me, he seems to be surfing the current Zeitgeist much more than steering it. (Reading THE TIPPING POINT, the only book of his I wrote, I concluded that Gladwell was an establishmentarian thinker whose specialty was marketing, a particularly vacuous field. The article that Michael posted reveals the right-wing tilt of his establishmentarianism.) -- Jim Devine / "Segui il tuo corso, e lascia dir le genti." (Go your own way and let people talk.) -- Karl, paraphrasing Dante. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
