it depends on one's perspective: from the capitalist perspective -- or
that of the typical economist -- any field that studies messy
relationships between complicated creatures such as human beings is
disreputable, since that topic can't be reduced to simple mathematical
or graphical models. (Economists typically don't get that the
subject-matter of sociology is much more complex than that of
economics and thus blame the sociologists.)
