It doesn't surprise me that Willard "jumped the shark." The problem is
that Obama's foreign policy is much the same as Romney's. All this
business of Romney's neo-con advisers doing stuff like referring to
Russia as the "Soviet Union" is a sign of desperation, an attempt to
do what economists call "differentiating the product" (i.e., making
the GOP foreign policy look different -- ever more warlike -- to
consumers). It was almost inevitable that the Mittster would
eventually take this effort too far, making himself look bad (stupid,
opportunistic, etc.)
