Before I post this, let me say that the Electrical Engineers Union people
that I met in Istanbul were wonderful radicals:


Behind all of this uprising in Turkey is Taksim Solidarity and one major
component of it is the Union of Chambers of Architects and Engineers of
Turkey. Another is the Union of Medical Doctors. This may look like a
spontaneous event, but those handful of us who have not left the barricades
played a major role in keeping the flame alive. One nice thing is that none
of the socialists tried to take ownership of what has been going on. We
have never claimed that, hey, we started this. The government is looking
for a culprit, but they cannot find any. They are confused. This is why I
like leaderless uprisings, up to a point.
