Okay, let me assume that you're honestly mystified, trying to understand why the bulk of the left is not with you on this. Suppose that it is known with a high degree of certainty that Assad used chemical weapons to kill all those people, and suppose also that the rest of the left accepts that as a fact: "No doubt, Assad killed them." Why then would the left not dwell and emphasize *that part* of Truth, even if at the expense of the other parts of the Truth (e.g. what the left knows well is the class nature of U.S. imperialist military interventions)? Well, maybe because we (the part of the left that you view as pimping Assad) think that the intervention of the U.S. and its allies is a much more severe threat to people in the region and the planet than Assad's alleged (or, say, proven) crimes. Maybe because, being based in the U.S., stopping a U.S. imperialist attack on Syria may be more feasible and effective (given the ultimate goals of the left) than letting the U.S. help the rebels change the regime in Syria. You may be pulling the elephant's trunk believing that you are holding the entire elephant. But maybe (just maybe) the rest of the left has a better sense of the whole animal than you.
