Problems with scientific research
How science goes wrong
Scientific research has changed the world. Now it needs to change itself
The Economist

...But success can breed complacency. Modern scientists are doing too much
trusting and not enough verifying—to the detriment of the whole of science,
and of humanity.

Too many of the findings that fill the academic ether are the result of
shoddy experiments or poor analysis (see article).

Fascinating that this critique was published in The Economist and directed
at other fields and not once mention Economics as a field of questionable
wisdom.

Cura te ispsum. It sounds better in Latin---not that I know Latin.

The real culprit in biotech is the business mentality that intersects with
the labs doing independent research. And the government funding guidelines
are not entirely neutral either.

There is nearly an automatic channeling of research toward `applications'
which means `products', which means some economic benefit.
