I would think the answer is no. As I understand Marx, when human beings act on the external world and change it, they at the same time change their own nature. Human wants, needs and possibilities will be altogether different under communism then they are under capitalism. I don't think one can understand the Marxist vision of communism if one thinks human nature is a fixed datum.
