I don’t know how to do this, and I can’t get into the interface to find out. I
have gone through the Mailman FAQs, but cannot find any documentation for this
issue. It looks like an opensource GNU mail management system.

It must be a very simple operation, of changing a GNU setting which reduces the
number of characters per line in received and archived posts to no more than a
screenful or a bit less. The archiving program must have a parameters list
somewhere, so that you can specify the maximum number of characters per line of
text.
