I drove with my motorbike to the Ukraine 2 years ago, met fascists in Lwiw,big mouth retired Canadians with Ukrainian forefathers, did not like them. Drove to Kiew,nice people,even more nationalist people only said that they use Ukrainian because they do not like to have to talk Russian.but this has not the meaning that they are against Russian speaking people.I come from Bavaria and even at high school I refused to talk “high” German,only because the teachers wanted to wipe out my dialect. I have contacts since that time. 2 weeks ago I went to Kiew and the Maidan for 5 days,I met my friends,was every day on the Maidan and had mmetings with people from the “left Maidan”(look them up on facebook). there are right wing Nationalists,even fascist,but they are a minority even on the Maidan.the big majority does not like if they promote their ideology. but is proud of their fighting. the left is very small and redistricted by the history of Stalinism. the “communist” Party is the worst I ever met under such name. it is a disgrace. there was nothing to defend in the Yanucovich regime.this is a true popular uprising and it gives space to the small left. the now ruling parties have no power at the moment over the masses. Putin is playing for the right. even the shootings on the Maidan came from a 3. force .not the Berkut and not the occupiers.The occupation of the Krim is a food for the right nationalists in the Ukraine. the Russian secret service is planting the internet with horror stories , it would not surprise me if the the leadership of the Ukrainian nationalists is mde up of Russian agents, -like the the German fascists made up of German secret police-. Putin considers Ukraine as Russian backyard,just like the USA sees Latin America. but Russians and Ukrainians are not like “gringos” and Latinos. so do not under estimate the role of the 3. player in a uprising. “Power to the people in the Ukraine”.
