To be clear I don't want to be "friends" in the sense of exchanging
Christmas cards or something.

What I meant by "being among friends" is that I didn't think I needed
to be constantly watching my words and talk like a fucking politician
in the fear that my words will be misunderstood or misinterpreted and
used against me.

Is it too much to ask that there should be a presumption of goodwill -
or at the very least absence of ill will - in messages sent on this
list?

That we should assume that there is no one on this list who is
actually a racist or sexist or homophobe or Islamo-phobe or
anti-Semite or whatever, and there should be a high thrshold for
accusing people on the list of such vile things?

Even if you don't want to extend that courtesy, don't you at least
want to pause before making extremely nasty personally-directed
accusations?

If you read something that seems inappropriate is it too much trouble
to ask for a clarification before calling others names?

Anyway I have said my piece and I am through with this.
