Kagarlitsky writes a long article on Crimea without mentioning the Tatars once. The guy is susceptible to what Lenin called imperial economism. Here's another example: "There are still people in Moscow who understand the Caucasus. A good Kremlin appointee could conduct tough, but effective, negotiations, paving the way for gradual regulation of the conflict as in Northern Ireland. The trouble is that the Kremlin is not ready for this and, as a result, the vacuum remains." "Tough, but effective, negotiations"... "as in Northern Ireland"... This is not a Marxist who ever bothered to read Lenin on the national question obviously. I wonder if Gandall ever did, or having done so forgot everything he read 40 years ago. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
