My Mom, 93 today group up in an Orthodox household. While they had a
menhorah, there was no other celebration of Hannakuh. In addition to what
LP says (I can vouch f or all this - was taught it growing up)  Hannakuh
was a very minor holiday to most of the devout.  Making a big deal of
Hannakah was fairly recent in Jewish history, as a sort of answer to Xmas,
only happened from the 17th or 18th century forward.
