"Progress to Socialism" is a nonsense phrase, since the idea of Progress is what holds capitalist society together! The concept is utterly foreign to Marx: History is not a railroad line down which humanity merrily plugs along to a fixed future. And as Rosa Luxemburg recognized, "socialism" cannot be the goal of socialist struggle, since it is unknowable. To claim to know what socialism is is, among other things, a radical repudiation of democracy!
