My understanding is that indentured servitude basically stopped being a Thing in the early 18'th century when freedom and bondage became racialized (the co-called "Terrible Transformation"). Also, the Revolution led to a major move towards Herrenvolk Democracy for white men, and certainly by 1812, few persons with white skin would not have been in any kind of legal bondage. -raghu.
