Last August, the NY Times reviewed Ms. Macy's book (notice the subtitle:
How One Furniture Maker Battled Offshoring, Stayed Local — and Helped
Save an American Town).

Globalization is one arm of a pair of pliers: vast reserves of cheap
labor opened in China, other Asian countries, and eastern Europe. As for
the other arm, why is the U.S. economy no longer able to develop new
forefront industries, take up displaced workers, and maintain mass
prosperity? That is a topic of my new book, The Hollow Colossus,
http://www.hollowcolossus.com Of course, the NY Times will not review
it, let alone give its point of view an opinion column.
