DeLauro, Nadler, and Schakowsky signed the anti-IMF letter. As did Ellison and Grijava.
It was never the case in the past that such Democrats were willing to take such a public stand against the IMF. We're gaining. We're starting from a very low level. But as I pointed out in the piece, because of the lack of support for the IMF among Congressional Republicans, a shift in Democrats can have a big impact. The status quo was a presumption that Congressional Democrats have to support the IMF. That's starting to crack. The AFL-CIO is engaging on the issue, partly due to engagement with the European unions; that's opening political space.
