You would think Carrol, who wants to see the development of an active 
anticapitalist movement in the US, would have a keen interest in how workers 
and intellectuals have gone about constructing such a movement in Greece. There 
are lessons, both positive and painful, which can be learned from their 
experience - the richest so far this century in the developed capitalist world. 
Carrol often sounds like a dyed-in-the-wool American exceptionalist who thinks 
there is nothing of value to be gained from examining how those outside of the 
US have grappled with the great issues of our time. Like Paul, I’m glad to see 
him wanting to discuss Honduras and Haiti, and invite him to also pay attention 
to Greece, another country in which the US has a long history of intervention.
