In the article Lou linked to, Robert Reich does not say a word about the radical switch away from fossil fuels that is necessary. This requires consumption of less stuff and more free time, retraining of the workers who are now working for fossil fuels and auto industries, much more development aid based on green technologies, etc. If we wait with these changes until after 2020, so much global warming will be baked into the environment that all we can do is watch how the planet becomes more and more un-inhabitable for humans over the following decades, as we pass the 2, 3, 4 degree Celsius mark, and apply palliative measures. We will have missed our change to prevent the end of our civilization. Radical action is required now, before things get so bad that business as usual is no longer possible. If that happens what Robert Reich describes and nothing more, we are screwed.
