USA Today says that "unforeseen moments could upend a campaign that's been going Bush's way for the past month. To minimize the risk, Bush negotiators insisted on a format that's more a joint interview than a debate. They demanded that Kerry be confined to the space behind his lectern so he can't interact with Bush or the audience. They tried to win assurances that TV cameras won't show the other candidate's reactions when his rival speaks."

Dread the thought that a debate might break out...

USA Today also comments that "Kerry enters tonight's debate an underdog. His performance could buoy him among voters looking for change or leave him trailing a president whose personality is more popular than his policies."

Looks like a dog's show in the "warp and woof" of American politics.
