I had a great uncle who organized sheepherders for the IWW in Montana! I
met him only once when (for reasons I can't remember) I stayed a few
days with a great aunt, & he was living with her at the time. He had
turned atheist while in grade school, and his parents (stern baptists)
refused to send him to high school (the equivalent then of college now),
so he was self-educated. He owned copies of both the Communist Manifesto
and Stalin's Foundations of Leninism.
