So you've got to refuse the terms of this debate; otherwise you're co-opted. I'm not going to say who you should vote for. I'm not going to sit here and tell you to vote for this one or vote for that one, because all of us here are people of influence and power, and we can't allow our power to be co-opted by those people. We cannot.
while i post this question in a rhetorical sense (since roy is not on the list), its a very serious one (intended neither in jest nor in sarcasm): what are roy's terms for the debate, that lead to a useful answer? it is easy enough to endorse or not endorse someone. but for the fellow entering the booth, what can the wise offer as practical advice?

Here is the truth of US political geography: a gigantic majority of leftists (such as PEN-pals) -- even more disproportionately than the majority of Americans -- live in one-party states, many of them concentrated in left-leaning urban areas like New York City, Chicago, and the Bay Area in states dominated by the Democratic Party like New York, California, and Illinois.
So, for the majority of leftists, the presidential election is really a no-brainer -- vote against the pro-war candidates of the Democratic and Republican Parties, vote for Nader, Cobb, or any other candidate on the left whose program you support.
On this listserv, only a couple of us -- such as yours truly -- live in battleground states. And not being a US citizen (like many leftists in the USA, many of whom are foreign-born), I don't have voting rights!!!!! -- Yoshie
