social democratic and labor movements in a lot of countries provided a lot of
the community that Adrienne refers to. Then, a lot of that went away as the
social democratic and labor movements became part of the government,
encouraging the bureaucratization of the community relations (sometimes for
good reason). Then, the movements faded, eventually undermining the principles
of the governments. For awhile, a lot of the
“new social movements” (anti-war, feminist, environmentalist, etc.)
