I was in Petaluma today. Old chicken coops can sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars. The old downtown blocks still look the same but the rest of the place is now a San Francisco commuter suburb.

Lou, you owe yourself a sentimental journey to Petaluma, even if the radicals are gone. Part of it looks much the same.
Leftwing lore has it that SF State, during the Black Studies Strike, was full of Petaluman kid radicals; also Santa Cruz; fewer in Berkeley (too high class a school) but some. They had a good diaspora, and as late as the Freeze Campaign there were oldtimers gathering signatures aplenty.
In the FRAYHAYT, I reviewed an autobiography of one oldtime Frayahytnik there, nice story, put together by an oral historian at Berkeley (and I forgot his name, too...yikes).
