Marc Cooper says: > When I vote Tuesday in California's special election, I will be voting Yes > On Prop 77 – the redistricting reform proposed by Governor > Schwarzenegger. I will vote NO on the other measures he is supporting.
Some of the "good government" folks in California favor Ah-nold's reapportionment scheme. That's because it's a more complex issue than it has been portrayed by many of its opponents. It does indeed address the issue of the insulation of incumbents that corrupts both of the official parties. However, it's poorly written, so I voted NO (by absentee ballot). The fact that Cooper votes against all of Arnie's other props is much more important than his vote for prop. 77. I'm so glad I voted already, so I can ignore all the damned ads. Some are funny, including the one with Judge Wopner (of the "People's Court") rapping prop. 77. (Judge Wopner and Louis Proyect -- strange bedfellows.) -- Jim Devine "Segui il tuo corso, e lascia dir le genti." (Go your own way and let people talk.) -- Karl, paraphrasing Dante.
