Excuse me, I am from tex-ASS. I find that offensive.
Kinky Friedman is leading all of the potential Democrats and polling
19%. Apparently, Ventura didn't poll that high until a few months before
the election. Kinky has a shot, we'll see if he gets on the ballot. He
needs 50K signatures gathered in a period of 2 months.
I just can't get enthusiastic about someone who calls Dubya a friend.
We'll see.
Returning to lurk mode.

tone doesn't travel well in cyberspace so i'm not sure if you're actually
offended (maybe used of caps suggests not), in any event, friend of mine
from tx called it that...

as for me, little place i like to call home is orblando (suburb of disney
world), calling it that may well offend some who live in this burg with
a thyroid problem, but not me...

on more serious note, poll numbers at this point probably don't mean
much, ted kennedy used to score high in prez polls *until* he
announced, and independent candidates usually see their support decline
as election nears...

re. ventura, he was polling in low 20% range just days prior to '98 election
in minnesota, according to some, same day voter registration may have
aided him, particularly among younger folks who showed up in higher
% than usual and among whom 'the body' received a significant share
of votes, in addition, '98 in minnesota was open seat race, hasn't perry in
tx managed to quell potential republican challenge to his nomination for
second term, even not-so-popular incumbents can be hard to beat... mh
