Note that you are answering your interpetation. I specifically
mentioned an economic basis for war pre-agriculture - a change in the
means of production, the development  of the bow. And the fact that
war lasted that long - pre-agriculture, agriculture, development of
iron suggests that there is something that is persistent about. I 
acknowledged the silliness in  some of what she said, but simply point
that stripped of it, she has some emprical data (that is the
archeological record records mass humans on human before agriculture.)
Ultimately if you strip out "meme" argument you end up with two points
- class opression, gender oppression, tribal/national/racial
oppression all happened as a response to a change in the means of
production. So far nothing Engels did not say.  And that change was
not the invention of agriculture, but the invention of the bow, and
the mass extermination of non-human predators that ate humans, and the
 ruminants upon which they lived. Not proven, but plausible.

Also that there are cultural continuities between pre-agricultural
humans and us that may be a contributing cause to continued acceptance
of  a class society when the material basis for eliminating class
divisions exists, and has existed since at least the 19th century.
