this reminds me of the time I took an airplane at about the beginning
of the deregulation era and noticed that the plane had more seats. I
asked the flight attendant about this and she said that they'd added
several extra rows. Where did they get the space? They got rid of one
of the bathrooms, she said.

I often fly from the Long Beach airport (rather than from LAX). It's
already a no-frills airport, as are a lot of smaller airports. It also
has much less security. (!)
