This IMO is an important development.  I think the Beinart book, which I am
reading now, is the central document.
Beinart has gotten much more p.r. than the DLC guys, though they are of like
minds.  Their basic game is to affect a posture of realism, compassion,
judiciousness in re: interventions -- to appropriate the mantle of the
non-radical anti-war movement sectors -- and at the same time get out from
under their record on Iraq, which was much to the contrary.

There is still the long-standing project of marginalizing the more serious
liberal currents in the DP.  It waned under the pressure of unifying the
party's electoral base, now I think it waxes because of the pressure to wage
war against Iran.
