It's not with great glee that I rise to the defense of Ann Coulter, but I suspect that this is the genesis of the Ann Coulter- anthrax story:
Salon.com July 18, 2006 Tuesday The Fix Ann Coulter jokes about Times anthrax scare. Coulter thinks she's just hilarious: After Friday's white powder mailroom scare at the New York Times (the envelope turned out to be filled with cornstarch), some Times staffer wondered if Ann Coulter thought it was funny -- she's said in the past that Timothy McVeigh should have blown up the Times offices and that executive editor Bill Keller should be shot. So the reporters at Memo Pad e-mailed Coulter to see what she thought. Her response? "So glad to hear that the New York Times got my letter and that your friend at the Times thinks I'm funny," she wrote back. "Good luck in journalism and please send me your home address so we can stay in touch, too." (Memo Pad) -- Robert Naiman Just Foreign Policy www.justforeignpolicy.org
