I'm sure the UNIFIL soldiers will be glad to get out... as their job for
many, many years has been to drive around, stand around, and get killed.

DOWN ON THE BORDERS
So, here’s my plan!
As a first step toward creating a peaceful world society, we erase any
and all borders and boundaries surveyed by the British imperialists
before WWII.
That should solve the problems in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kashmir, Uganda,
Kenya and the south west of Africa in general. The particular problems
of the Arab Peninsula, including the Palestine, and the Jordanian, Saudi
and Yemeni kingdoms would be easily resolved if, as they before the
European destruction of the Ottomans, there were no boundaries other
than tribal tradition in the shifting sands of history in the region.
If there were no borders the Hezebollah and the Isrealis would have
nothing to fight over in Lebanon and would be educed to wandering
through the hills below the Littani river occasionally running into each
other and exchanging angry words and the occasional shot.
Without the counterfeit nationhood of Iraq the Kurds, Shiite marsh Arabs
and Sunni desert traders would revert to their own territories, possibly
federated for economic purposes in the oil business, but self ruling
communities defined by the local people instead of some commission made
up of Euro-Infidels glutted with victory in some western war.
Without the Balfour Line in the Himalayas Pakistan and Kashmir would be
separated from India only by elevation, Tibet and China , Nepal Burma
and the Pacific island archipelagoes would all rule themselves, much to
the relief of their current civil servants , who cannot rule the
disparate post colonial territories without submitting to economic
dominance by world banking and their former masters.
As a second phase, the borders of nations defined by the French, Spanish
and Americans would be adjusted if not eliminated altogether, beginning
with the Philippines, as defined by the Spanish conquerors and preserved
by the United States in a vicious little war at the turn of the last
century.
Our southern border with Mexico is an obvious problem, and if it weren’t
for the largely unmarked border there would be no illegal migration
crime spree or smuggling. If you are caught with a pocket full of drugs
in Texas or Chihuahua, you are charged for a pocket full of dope, not
where you were caught.
In Asia in the ‘70’s I met a guy who claimed to be a world citizen. He
carried a custom printed passport with picture and description but no
nation of origin or country of issue for the document.
It took him several years of being detained in airports and customs
posts around the globe to convince the collective authorities that he
was no threat and was more of a nuisance to deal with than to simply
stamp a page and turn him loose to wander at large in the one world he
believed in. if you jail him he costs you to feed and house, you can’t
find another country to send him off to, and he’s obviously charming and
peaceful and will pay a modest bribe if properly approached.
A very civilized person by any count.
Would that the rest of us were as free!
