There's some "necessary repression" that's needed just so society can
persist without chaos (bad anarchy). But there's some sort of
democratic surplus-repression that's needed to do better than that.
Democracy is central.

I'd venture to say that, in essence, socialism is democracy, not an
attempt to unleash greater forces of production or eros for that
matter than capitalism allows, though socialism can attempt either or
both, if either or both become the goal of democracy.

The only thing is that democracy and sexual freedom don't always go
hand in hand.  After all, democracy is at bottom the rule of many, and
what kinds and degrees of sexual freedom can exist in a democracy
depends on the disposition of the many.
