Perhaps the fact that most of the rest of the world *does* seriously
regulate gm products and their incorporation in food ...  ...
material... for humans, or prohibit it entirely, would indicate the
intractability of the situation.

Well, what works for the rest of the world doesn't work for Americans.
The very ubiquity of GM foods in America makes it difficult to get
Americans to become concerned about it.  It's probably like trying to
get the French to become concerned about nuclear power.
