My ongoing paranoid fantasy is that AQ Khan, ostensibly a CIA asset, and Osama bin-Laden (ibid) had some kind of back room deal going on wherein AQ was going to supply UBL with some quantity of fissionable material to make a 'dirty bomb', most likely for deployment against Saudi Arabia (OPEC's controlling interest, and a target that certain neocon elements would have no qualms about some sort of advantageous destabilizing.), but someone high up in the 'spook' chain nixed the deal, which caused UBL, who had worked for the CIA for years, and had no problem with cooperating with the west in Kosovo, Bosnia et al, to 'turn rogue', with 9/11 being the end result.
