The figures show wounds to the hands. Jesus was crucified by the Romans/ Jews using Roman crucifixion. Christian iconography aside, with Jesus depicted with wounds in his hands (artistic licence??), this begs the question as to why stigmata are normally displayed on the palms of the hands and rarely on the wrists.
