Yeah, what passes for electoral politics in the USA is basically an
arms race between money bags: in a majority of cases, a candidate who
spends more money than her opponent wins.  That depoliticizes people,
which in turn helps the ruling class.

Since we don't have money, though, we have to do politics in an
old-fashioned way, winning over people!
