What really strikes me as interesting is that the Democrats of my
acquaintance locally who've begun to develop a rudimentary backbone are now
saying, "we had to bide our time to give Bush enough rope."

After the midterm, of course, it'll be just like after 1986 with
Reagan--"he's so near the end, it'd accomplish nothing to push something as
divisive as impeachment now.  Even if it carried, we wouldn't be able to
proceed until he was almost out of office anyway."

Democrats seem to have more excuses than my students for not doing what
they're supposed to do.  :-)

And when you call them on it, it's the same complaint about unrealistic
expectations.....
