And the question about the truth of a particular story completely obscures the _selection_ of detail that one can expect from a smelly source. What we are interested in (I would suppose) is some idea of the potential direction of Iranian politics, and their relevance to the world balance of power, and carefully selected stories don't give us anything on that.
