Yes (to your first point), except that problem is that the public schools aren't public enough. The publicly-funded schools actually serve a broader system of privatized intellectual property and elitist credentialism. A genuine public school system would be boisterously polytechnical (as opposed to anal-retentive academic) and would have no grading and no testing. -- Sandwichman
