George W. Bush's recent visits to Latvia and Estonia poses the
question if history has repeated itself. Almost a century ago,
Secretary of State William Jennings Bryant visited the area which now
includes Serbia and Croatia. A reporter asked him how he liked his
trip to the Balkans. He responded: "where are the Balkans?"

I can easily imagine Bush saying "where are the Baltics?"
