This is a bit silly. When there is a "split" within one party, one wing of that party forms an effective coalition with the other party and business goes on as usual. It wouldn't even matter if there were an actual "progressive" majority _within_ the DP (Hah!); the congressional majority would remain - will remain - a conservative majority. Carrol
