and the police were the assassins.

If they couldn't do it extra-legally, they tried the legal route.

Nothing has changed.

The prosecution's witness was discredited years ago and their 'forensic
evidence'? I withhold judgement until the defense has a chance to have
their own analysis done, including a thorough vetting of the lab that
did the testing.

That should be laughable.

It would be interesting to see if the prosecution might try to turn this
into a "domestic terrorism" case to cripple the defense's access to
evidence.
